For Immediate Release July 28, 2020 Houston, Texas -- We are excited to announce the end of an era and the beginning of a new era. Mr. Gene Birdwell, a resident of Houston, Texas, was deeply moved when he witnessed the suffering of returning Combat Veterans and decided he must do something about it. In June 2011, Mr. Birdwell founded the PTSD Foundation of America and Camp Hope. As outlined in the mission statement, the Foundation offers support to returning Combat Veterans through weekly “Warrior” support meetings, including one-on-one counseling and long-term residential treatment for Veterans suffering from PTSD. Thanks to the tireless work of volunteers and the generous support of committed people and businesses, Camp Hope and the PTSD Foundation of America have helped these Veterans ease their suffering and become happily and usefully whole.
Recently, Mr. Birdwell resigned from Camp Hope to embark on a new era of compassionate help and support for the all-too-often neglected heroes of our Great Nation. Mr. Birdwell founded the Birdwell Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to decrease and eliminate Veteran and First Responder suicides utilizing the experiences of fellow warriors who have found their way out of the darkness through a healing process they are now teaching to others. The Birdwell Foundation already has grown into a national endeavor with more than 23 groups in 16 cities in 13 states with two-to-three meetings per week per facility. The Birdwell Foundation also is in the process of developing and opening a residential treatment facility for those suffering from PTSD. American Heroes are being led out of the darkness. Please STAND UP and be counted along with us. The Birdwell Foundation PO Box 690748 Houston, Texas 77069 www.BirdwellFoundation.org We have a Special Message For Veterans & First Responders.
